Code of Conduct
African Tech Vision believes in entrepreneurship and its power to create a better world.
This Code of Conduct provides guidelines for all members of our network, including founders, mentors, and volunteers. These guidelines address both the things we do and the things we don’t do.
Respect, integrity, and accountability are at the core of African Tech Vision's values and principles, and those who do not abide by this Code of Conduct will be removed from our global community.
We empower.
1. We support!
Our role is to open path ways for the exceptional founders in the African ecosystem. We believe in their potential and are here to empower them in the best way possible.
2. We respond in a timely manner.
We make every attempt to prioritize and respond to requests from fellow African Tech Vision network members within two business days.
3. We believe in paying it forward.
We are all ONE! We have the highest gratitude for our network - customers, mentors, partners, and others that contribute to our success.
5. We share talent and business opportunities.
Whenever we meet great talent and decide not to hire directly, we share their contact - if given their consent - with our network. When we become aware of good business opportunities that we choose not to pursue directly, we share them with others in our network.
We are responsible.
6. We are honest and transparent.
If we say something, it's because we actually believe it. We do not intentionally leave out relevant information in an effort to deceive others. We strive to be clear and transparent in all our communication.
7. We protect sensitive information and private data.
When we are entrusted with sensitive, confidential, or personal information, we use appropriate measures to secure it. We appreciate and respect requests for privacy and confidentiality.
8. We disclose known conflicts of interest.
We err on the side of too much disclosure.
9. We do not claim someone else's assets or content as ours.
We respect intellectual property.
10. We abide by all local and federal laws.
We do not do business with bad actors. We honor international sanctions. We are careful to do business only with lawful parties.
11. We honor our legal agreements and keep our promises.
We follow the spirit and intent of our legal agreements. Also, if we commit to do something, we do our very best to do it. If we can’t keep our promises for some reason, then we strive to make it right in any way possible.
We treat others with respect.
12. We commit to human-first, open, and friendly work environments.
We intentionally create work environments where everyone can feel welcome and included. We strive for professional and appropriate communication at all times.
13. We have zero tolerance for discrimination or harassment in any form.
Employees disrespecting our discrimination guidelines have to leave our team. We train our employees to recognize and address bad behavior. We will ban or fire mentors, investors, founders, employees, contractors, and others who discriminate against or harass others.
14. We believe in diversity and inclusion.
We are committed to building inclusive work environments that reflect and value the diversity of people. We believe there is no business success without an active engagement in diversity and inclusion. We believe that building diverse and inclusive teams brings a competitive advantage to the tech scene.
15. We shine when our startups shine.
We always work for the benefit of our founders and startups, not for our own personal benefit.
10. We abide by all local and federal laws.
We do not do business with bad actors. We honor international sanctions. We are careful to do business only with lawful parties.
16. We believe in fair pay for equal work.
We are committed to ensuring everyone receives fair compensation (to include all forms of equity and benefits). We appreciate the commitment our employees make to the success of our companies and agree to compensate them without regard to ability status, age, ancestry, civil union, class, color, ethnicity, familial status, gender, gender identity, genetic information, marital status, military service (current or past), national origin, pregnancy, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or another status.
